Powellhurst-Gilbert

Powellhurst-Gilbert is Portland's single most populous neighborhood, home to roughly 32,000 residents spread across a broad swath of SE/East Portland between 82nd and 122nd Avenues, and between Powell Blvd and Foster Road. Over the past two decades, the neighborhood has become internationally recognized as the Jade District — a concentration of Asian-American businesses, cultural organizations, and community institutions anchored by the Fubonn Shopping Center at 2850 SE 82nd Ave, which hosts Oregon's highest density of Asian-owned businesses under one roof.

The diversity of Powellhurst-Gilbert is staggering. Along 82nd Avenue and Division Street you'll find Vietnamese pho houses, Cambodian noodle shops, Chinese dim sum halls, and Korean BBQ restaurants alongside Russian and Ukrainian grocery stores like Roman Russian Market on SE Division and Middle Eastern markets like Mingala International Mart. Powell Butte Nature Park flanks the neighborhood's southern edge with 611 acres of trails and meadows. The Shun Fat (SF) Supermarket at 5253 SE 82nd Ave anchors the district's grocery needs. The Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood Association (PGNA) is a volunteer organization celebrating this exceptional cultural diversity while advocating for infrastructure investment in one of Portland's most underserved outer communities.
