Late review, but the review is still the same. Got a head unit, nice speakers and the accessories that go with it and Car Toys did it right. Have some great travel pics from the front and rear cameras and the tunes kept it groovin! Thank you Car Toys for coming through again!

More reviews on GoogleA group of professional car audio enthusiasts working at Car Toys in Beaverton. I invested a significant amount for audio upgrades in my 2026 VW, and I’m so happy with how it turned out! Francisco, Gus, and Harry all did a fantastic job. Highly recommended!
Not happy at all. I spent 2 grand. I got lied to, tricked into buying an open box Kenwood way over priced. They stole my remote. The list goes on. I'll never go back there again. *** 11-21-25*** You have my name and number in your computer system. Feel free to call me. ***11-24-25*** Crickets. "New management " ? I got absolutely hosed at Beaverton Car Toys in July of 2025. I specifically wanted a decent stereo deck and speaker upgrade from the stock 2011 Ford Ranger factory speakers. I purchased the higher end Orion XTR57Speakers new off Amazon and I already had a top of the line Kenwood eXcelon XR901-5 five channel Amplifier. This is a 700 dollar very high end Amp. I also had a brand new Pioneer head unit. All I wanted was all this gear nicely installed into my 2011 Ford Ranger. Well they initially installed it and it sounded absolutely terrible. I was shocked. The installer told me he did the best he could tuning it and that my head unit was pretty much junk. I thought I had a really decent Pioneer 8 inch screen head unit. Well the installer and the Manager guy explained that they strongly recommended a Kenwood head unit since my Amp was the high end Kenwood 5 channel Amplifier. I was kind of pressed for time so I went ahead and WAY overpaid for (what I would later find out) an open box previously used Kenwood that had been returned. So I have no idea how my open box deck was used or if there were problems with it. Mine intermittently shuts off while I am listening to music. They charged me 700 dollars for this DDX57S. Every major electronics store has this brand new for $449.99. So I got completely bamboozled and paid 700 dollars plus I had to pay again for the head unit installation. That's 800 bucks right there just for the Pioneer and the Kenwood install. So I get home (20 miles away) and realize I have no remote. I double check the manual and I even research online. Yes this unit definitely comes with a brand new remote. I call and the Manager guy says "oh, I'm pretty sure that particular unit doesn't come with a remote." I said "you're wrong, and I absolutely must have a remote or I cannot use this deck. It has no knobs and I need To be able to adjust volume and other important things while I am driving." He puts me on hold forever. He comes back on and as he's saying there's not much he can do, I strongly say, "I'm Coming back tomorrow, you can take everything out and uninstall it, take your Kenwood back and I want ALL my money back." He says. Well, I can order you one. I said "you had 7 days.". So again week later he calls and tells me he has a remote for me. I drive all the way from south of Forest Grove to Beaverton and he hands me an open unpackaged used kenwood remote. I didn't have time to object because I was leaving the next day to drive my Ranger to Denver for Metallica. The remote works sometimes. I have literally one very narrow and specific position that I have to hold the remote for it to actually work. I would later learn that he gave me a used remote that is not even close to the remote that comes from the factory for this particular Kenwood. Here it is November. Just over 4 months later and I am having constant problems with the music cutting out. My Fosgate sub distorting and low volume, and crackling sounds coming from my new Orion XTR's. I am very disappointed, that they knowingly sold me a used deck without telling me or even giving me the option, and they absolutely ripped me off on it, and it sounds worse than the Pioneer deck I originally had them install. They obviously purposefully tuned the Pioneer so it would sound bad. They did this to trick me into pawning off their open box used Kenwood. I feel like a total sucker. They replied that they are under new management and to give them a call. Well, my name is publicly displayed on this review. They can look my name up in their system and call me anytime. They haven't, and I doubt they will. I am attaching remote pictures. They gave me a used RC-406. My deck takes a RC-DV331
Staff was polite so I won’t rate them a 1. But I think there is some customer favoritism going on because a very attractive girl came after me for the same procedure and her car took 30 minutes and mine took 2 hours ….she got out of the shop wayyyy before me for the same exact procedure. I could be wrong but that’s what it appeared. —- So yeah the 25 minute procedure took 2 hours and when my car was finished I couldn’t get it because the next car they were working on had me boxed in…so I had to keep waiting. (What would would help is if they gave time accurate time estimates and checked in with customers if there was any delays) Also the Installer forgot something in my car and caller me an hour later for me to meet him halfway to return it…so I had to drive again just to return it.
So disappointed in the quality of work for the price I paid. I had never gotten a car detail before and my cousin got me a detail from Groupon. Not only was I charged more for them vacuuming my trunk which I would think would still be considered an interior, I could forgive that. But the fact there was still stickiness on my gear shift and not deep cleaned at all , residue in numerous places . Center council and glove compartment not done as I was told it would be . Sides and crevices not detail and under seats not deep vacuumed . It was definitely not worth $110 . So disappointed and will not be back .
