Marcel is an amazing person. We had a sudden death in the family and he was able to do a roadtrip car safety check on short notice. He had some great advice to follow on the road. Thank you Marcel for looking out for our road safety.
I happened upon Upland Autowerks when I lived nearby and needed some work done on my Subaru. Since then, I have moved at least 30 minutes away and I still take my car to this shop because Marcel is the kindest, intellectual, and honest mechanic I have had the pleasure doing business with. I particularly appreciate the knowledge and tips he imparts with me to keep my car in good condition. Portland is lucky to have Upland Autowerks in its community.
This guy is truly an expert at what he does. If you choose to take your Subaru elsewhere that's your loss. He helped me prioritize what needs to be done immediately vs what can be done in the future, never had an experience like this before. Thank you!
Someone else already said this is the mechanic we're all looking for - I couldn't agree more. I had a wonderful experience working with Marcel to fix a couple of things on my Subaru Crosstrek today. He is extremely knowledgeable, doesn't nickel-and-dime you, and turnaround time was quick. Just a genuinely good dude doing solid work. Called Marcel today at 9am because I knew I was well due for a brake pad replacement. He told me to bring it in and he'd be happy to take a look and see what needed to be done, and then we could agree if we wanted to work together. Turns out my front and rare brake pads and rotors had been on their way out for a while (as I suspected but had ignored). I gave him the greenlight to replace it all, and he was able to get all of that replaced for me within 5 hours at a super reasonable price. As for the one star reviews here lamenting his tone on the phone, stop acting like a child. I appreciate a mechanic who is upfront and direct, and in no way did I ever consider him rude. You're calling to get your car fixed, not for a therapist consultation.
