I had structural and geotech questions about my house. I called Grummel. In a 10-15 minute conversation Tim helped me both understand what the key questions were and gave me good guidance on how to proceed. He understood the issues, had my interest at heart, and saved me the cost of a much more expensive consultation that isn’t yet needed. I highly recommend Grummel as a knowledgeable structural engineering company that has the customer’s best interests at heart!
Grummel Engineering has given me excellent results for my custom home project - from initial design consultation looking at the most efficient way to achieve structural design to fit the architectural plan, to working with my architect and builder in-process to answer questions. The structural plans and calcs were highly detailed and complete and were approved by County Engineering without requiring any revision. Tim and Alex were great to work with, and I will definitely look to them again for the next project. I would highly recommend this firm!
Tim recently performed a site visit at my house to figure out the feasibility of exposing the vaulted attic ceilings throughout my house. It's a 1920s house with lots of nuance. Tim worked through several scenarios with me and explained how they will affect overall budget and look. He was really patient with my questions and thorough with his answers. He ended up having to draw me a lot of pictures. I feel really confident with the solution we figured out and he gave me drawings I can give straight to a contractor to get a quote. I recommend calling Tim for an assessment!
Our geotechnical engineering firm has teamed with Grummel Engineering for several years on various construction projects. They are very responsive and provide practical structural engineering solutions. They also do very well on the more technically challenging projects (especially buildings on steep slopes). I would definitely recommend them.
