Huge selection of VHS, massive amount of CDs packed into this little store. Friendly owner knows the market and charges fair prices. If you're looking for a copy of something chances are good they have it. The parking kind of sucks around here I parked at one of the fast food joints big parking lots and crossed the street..
I was looking for a specific record for my spouse's birthday, and the friendliest person assisted me over the phone to let me know that they had it in stock! When I went into the shop, the vibes were immaculate and the person behind the counter was so kind and helpful. I'll be back soon to browse in person! It seemed well organized and like there's a great selection.
Took 2 of my boys here for the first time today and we were welcomed by a beautiful sight of music in all forms! Not to mention the owners themselves and their humor! Highly recommend, even just to visit!
Variety Records was one of the greatest highlights of my trip to Portland. My partner and I collect physical media, and always try to find the biggest shops to dig through. Variety is filled to the ceiling with a wild amount of DVDs, Blu-Rays, VHS, Records, and more. Walking through the doors had me star struck initially, but I was beyond happy to find a place I could spend hours searching through stacks of new and classic films alike. Beyond the mountains of media is an owner with a heart of gold who wanted nothing more than to spread joy and love with his passion for the business. We had a great time chatting about his Saturday trailer sales, his twenty-one years of how he and his business partner have built this monument of movies, and how everyone deserves to feel the love and find happiness amongst the shelves and within their neighborhoods. I am keeping this as my top place to return every time I come back to this wonderful city.
One of the more wholistic of Portlands media holes. Come here ready to spend hours sifting through the rhizome of human aural and visual ingenuity in every format that entails… It is never the same selection twice!
