Awesome place for live music and the two-step tuesday lessons are awesome. Friendly teachers and regulars to dance with. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a little country scene. And the bands they get are all fantastic.

My current favorite place to catch live music in Portland. Staff is excellent, food is good and the sound is the best! If you want to sit during the shows you should arrive early, as the tables fill up fast. But if you're into dancing, and the band brings it, you'll want to be on your feet as the dance floor is fantastic. Oh, and the bathrooms are clean and plentiful. Check Showdown out...it's a one of a kind in Portland!

I came here with a friend for a concert that we were both excited to see. We were immediately surprised by the overall lack of seating. Minimal tables, pool table covered and being used as a table, but basically if we hadn't been over an hour early, it would have been standing room only (which it was for many people). I placed an order for a drink, which was well poured, and the 3 piece bar b cued chicken with garlic bread for $14 (not terribly priced in my opinion for bar food). I ordered a side of potato salad for $3. (Of note, the menu is very limited, be prepared). The food took, what felt like decades, to arrive. When it did, I was again surprised. 2 bar b cued wings and one thigh and the garlic bread was a simply slice from a French baguette, slathered in butter or margarine. I was unable to tell which because of the unholy amounts of garlic powder that had been liberally dumped on it (like seriously, unholy garlic powder volume. I'm not sure that this garlic breath will go away any time soon even with increased amounts of oral hygiene). The potato salad? Actually really good. The best thing besides my drink. Overall though, the food was disappointing. The show was scheduled to start at 8 pm with an opener. There was no word from the venue and it was 30 minutes late starting BUT it appears that the opener didn't show as the headliner started promptly at 8:30 pm. It would have been nice to have a heads up from Showdown though regarding the delay. Overall, I appreciated the show and enjoyed the concert, potato salad and drink. In the future, I will eat BEFORE I come, and I will always ensure that I get here grossly early for seating. I wish there were more or better seating options but for a bar based venue, it isn't the worst that I've been to and they do host a large number of artists. I choose 3 stars for the courtesy of the wait staff/bartenders, the quality of the sound system (which was good for the specific type of venue), and the potato salad/drinks. If you need to sit, get there EARLY!!

This is a great spot to catch a show. I went on a Monday so am not sure how it would be with a bigger crowd, but it was perfect for a more intimate set and had seats and tables available, as well as plenty of standing room. The menu is no frills, and the vegan options are appreciated! Feels like “old Portland.” Good sound from the bands too.

Overall a great place, absolutely love it as both a bar and a venue kinda makes you forget about the chaos of Portland that surrounds it, can get a bit hectic and bartenders can get overwhelmed. It would be awesome to have an available whiskeys menu to go with the beer and other menus since they have a great selection, once the lights go down you can't see what they actually have and the place gets busy.... Acoustics are great and love the place overall ...
