This school was very disappointing. I went to this school in 8th grade during the pandemic. Seeing as it was a online school before covid, we thought it would be a good idea to go here rather then my old schools online school. In my experience with the school, they weren't helpful and did little to nothing. If you have ADHD and are thinking about attending this school, I'd suggest another option.
I recently graduated from MEWA, and I can definitely say, transferring there was one of the best decisions of my life. The staff there definitely show how much they care about students and their success in school. I went from a failing student, to A’s and B’s doing early college within 2 years of being there. My life definitely got turned around.
I am a student at MEWA, and it's been an amazing experience overall. The teachers are helpful, the classwork is challenging, but fun to do, and the open labs on campus is a welcoming environment. The club I participate in is very fun, and there is a club for almost everyone. I would highly recommend attending.
Overall I'd say this school is a pretty good school but it definitely isn't for everyone. 1. The BrainHoney software always adds assignments; over holidays, spring breaks, etc. (I've had to do assignments on Christmas day...) 2. If you have any important responsibilities outside of school, it's really hard to stay on pace. 3. The teachers can be very unresponsive. 4. There is a lot of pressure put on you when you're behind. 5. BrainHoney glitches sometimes so you can't complete schoolwork. These glitches last from 15 minutes to a full day. BUT 1. You do have the freedom to finish school whenever you want and can and create your own schedule. 2. The teachers are all kind. 3. The curriculum is advanced so you really learn.
THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER! The Metro East Web Academy is AWESOME! The teachers interact with the students in a very positive and encouraging manner. The principal and vice-principal are very supportive and encouraging. The curriculum is interesting and engaging, on-line, it is easy to track your progress and turning in assignments in real time means you get instant gratification for your efforts. Parents can get on-line and track their kids progress. I HIGHLY recommend The Metro East Web Academy to any student who wants to blaze their own trail, be ahead of the curve, learn a lot, master their computer skills and have a wonderful educational experience that the old "bricks and mortar" schools are failing to provide anymore.
