I went to Minuteman Press Powell for a simple save the date post card. The price they quoted was much more affordable than some other places we asked, so we went with them. After we paid for the full order (a requirement for receiving a proof), we received a one-sided digital proof. I asked if there was a postcard template for the other side (just some address lines and a box for stamps) and was told they have no such template. While not ideal, that was fine, so I ordered a physical proof. When I went to the store to look at it, the person I interacted with seemed irritated that I was there. The physical proof was the postcard size I had ordered, but, in-person, it seemed very large, so I asked them if standard post card postage would work with something so big. They said they didn't know. I said it was pretty big, and asked if there were smaller postcard sizes, and they said they'd make it whatever dimensions I wanted, without offering any suggestions beyond that. I'm not intimately familiar with postcards, so I wasn't sure what to ask from there. Eventually I asked if they knew what smaller postcard dimensions there were, to which they moved some papers aside on the counter to reveal a guide to postcard sizes. They pointed to the biggest one and said that's what I'd ordered. I pointed to the medium size one and asked if I could have that size and they said yes and that I would receive a digital proof in my email. The whole interaction seemed unnecessarily embarrassing, and little help or guidance was offered. We've already paid for the whole order, so we'll stick with Minuteman for our save the date, but we'll be going elsewhere for our invitations.
