Popped into Hat Yai this evening for the first time and very glad we did. The food was delicious and vibe was bustling. I’ll start by saying this place is definitely not big so come with the expectation that you might have to wait for a table. There’s only about 8-10 tables in the place and it’s definitely geared towards smaller groups. Regardless we ordered at the front and then were able to find a seat. Wound up ordering the combo to try and get a taste of everything. The portions were solid and everything was super tasty. The chicken is perfectly breaded and delicious. It’s a bit of a messy meal so just come with that in mind. Have a bunch of different options that also looked tasty. Will have to come back and try again. Service was fine. They were kind and cleared the table. Water is self serve at front of the restaurant and they clearly do a fair amount of takeout. Cool local spot to definitely check out.

Great service and such a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, the kind of place you immediately feel comfortable in. Overall, the food was a solid 4/5. The fried chicken was unfortunately a miss for us. The breast was on the dry side, and we've had juicier versions at other spots, & the thigh was undercooked (bloody) so it was a bit of a letdown. The Pandan roti had wonderful flavor, but the roti itself was harder than expected — a softer texture would have made it perfect. On the bright side, the drinks are absolutely stellar and worth ordering. The oxtail broth was a highlight too, a lovely balance of spicy, salty, and sour. The oxtail itself was beautifully tender, though it could have used a bit more seasoning to really shine. Despite a few misses, the overall experience was enjoyable and definitely worth a visit. We'd come back to explore more of the menu!

I am reposting this because my previous review was removed. These people have no idea how to cook chicken. The server provided zero service; after dropping off the food, they never came back to check on us once. To make matters worse, the rice tasted like it had been sitting out for a long time, and the chicken was served undercooked. Since I was there with my child, I was especially concerned and couldn't let them eat it. I couldn't eat it either, so we just ended up leaving. I honestly don't understand why the reviews here are so positive. I am leaving this so others don't get tricked and regret it like I did.

Quick lunch visit during work, first time and it was great. We go the Hat Yai for 2.Nice portion size for lunch and it wasn't overly crowded. Pretty cool atmosphere and he staff was very helpful. We sat at the high top area, which was perfect for our time there. The curry sauce went well with the sticky rice, it had such a good flavor. The fried chicken was good on it's own, but we I added on the chili sauce it was a lot better. Just a little bit of a kick, but not much, and the spices were delicious. I'm interested in returning to try some of the other options.

I can’t believe it took me so long to come here - this meal was INCREDIBLE. I love how straightforward the menu is - making it super easy to pick. I got their Hat Yai Iced Coffee - super cool flavors but they definitely are on the sweeter side, so you may need to ask for a heavier coffee pour if you need a caffeine boost. Since it was my first time here I decided to stick to what they’re known for so I got their Fried Chicken Set. Every individual item on the plate was incredible and unique and then you start combining bites and your mind is blown even further.
