Awesome customer service! Friendly and informative. They checked my truck over and found no issues with the exhaust but gave a suggestion of a mechanic to see, with no charge!! Great company, great people. Highly recommend

I live very close to Darrel’s, have gone there a few times for odds and ends with varying experiences. To be clear - I have a full shop at home. I’m a welder. I don’t “need” much of what Darrel’s offers. But, in a pinch, it’s nice that they’re there. ..Sometimes I bought an old truck recently that I wanted to keep emissions compliant. Welded full exhaust for it since it needed a new cat. I plan on revising it in the future, so I used adapters and clamps in a couple places. Went to Darrel’s thinking those would be cheap off the shelf parts. Told guy at the counter what I needed. He went and talked to an older guy (who I assume is the owner) working on the exhaust of a seemingly high end hot rod that seemed to be kind of annoyed by the ask. Counter guy disappears, comes back 20 minutes later with “custom” adapters and 4 clamps - $130. What??? The flares on the adapters were split, had to weld them closed when I got home. They barely fit, I actually have an exhaust leak atm because of them. Should’ve gone to autozone. That’s on me I guess. Complete overpriced junk. A couple days later I needed a weld in bung for an O2 sensor. Told the same guy at the counter what I needed. He went and talked to the same older guy under the same hot rod. Same annoyed expression. Counter guy comes back with the part - $35. Insane. BUT.. I needed the part in that moment. So I sucked it up & paid the man. I’m not saying Darrel’s is bad at what they do. They clearly do not want this kind of business though. I got the message loud and clear. I’ve actually gone there when the “probably owner” older guy wasn’t there and gotten reasonable prices cause the person at the counter just charged what made sense. Can’t count of that. If you need a full custom exhaust, maybe they’re great. Couldn’t tell ya. If you need a weld in bung - you’re better off machining it yourself. If you need an adapter - you’re better off making it out of tin foil. If you have to go there for something small - look in the shop for a 60+ year old dude who looks a little too clean to be there before you walk into the office. If the owner’s not there, they’ll probably do you right.

I’ve been working with these guys for years and they have always exceeded expectations. Good workmanship, customer service and they stand behind their work. They service both my work truck and personal rig and have always taken good care of me. They won’t disappoint.

Awesome shop. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of work is excellent. I had an aftermarket exhaust that didn't fit correctly on my car, took it in and in less than 30 minutes they had it fit perfect to the car, no rattles, the tips line up perfectly and I don't have to worry about it moving again. I wouldn't bother going to any other shop for exhaust work.

In his website's introductory video, Darrel flashes an avuncular smile and pledges "we will not sell you something that you don't need." My $75 muffler repair attests that Darrel is a man of his word, and my experience with his amiable team proves that Darrel's down-home demeanor steers the culture of this throwback business. This morning a buddy observed my 2005 Silverado's tailpipe swaying on the hangers as we pulled into a parking lot at the same time. A quick look underneath revealed that the pipe was completely detached from the backside of my muffler - a MagnaFlow installed in 2013. Shortly before lunch I pulled the truck into a bay at Darrel's, bracing for a pitch that it wasn't worth repairing a 12-year-old system or that the break was too close to the muffler's exhaust flange for a long-term fix. Not the case. My mechanic wrapped on the underside of the muffler with weathered knuckles highly-calibrated through 30 years of auto repair and confidently declared "It's good. All you need is a bit of pipe." 15 minutes later I backed off the rack a little more quietly than I had pulled on. Splicing a length of pipe into the system won't win me any underbody inspection awards at a car show, but does the trick to dump the carbon dioxide beyond my tailgate instead of under my passenger cab. When the time comes that my truck does need a new muffler, Darrel's Economy Mufflers is the obvious destination.
