Paid for 3 concert tickets to see q band play here, but nowhere did it say that this is not a theater, but a bar with a stage. My 18yo son was turned away and we made a 5 hour long trip to see that show for NOTHING. Be aware, this is a BAR that they advertise as a THEATER, and no persons under 21 can attend any events here.
Amazing venue with a fantastic atmosphere! The historic vibe of the theater adds so much character to the show. The sound quality was top-notch, and the staff were friendly and efficient. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Portland for live music!
Star Theatre is an awesome venue. Right in the heart of Downtown Portland, with a constant, diverse lineup of great musical acts coming through. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is always on point, and the energy is palpable. They serve good drinks and keep you in high spirits. The outside area is very nice, with some cover and heat for the cold, wet winter months, and there is a local cat that will come around for love from anyone willing to give it. Many of my favorite concert experiences have happened here, and I would recommend it to anyone.
Cozy little place with a great side patio area to just hang out and get some fresh (albeit nicotine-laced) air. Ear plugs available at the bar, at least six bathrooms, and lots of misc seating in the main area. Half of the hall is carpeted; classy AND soft on your poor aching feet. No coat check as far as I could tell, and no explicit bag policy. One star off because it's impossible to find that information until you're physically there. Their website does not list any policies or amenities, nor do they offer a customer service phone number or email.
We went to a show there last night for a band that many fans travel internationally to follow. A handful of us pay into the bands patreon for early entry. There is always room left up front for other concert goers and the ones who arrive before doors can get up to the stage. Myself and my friend, females, were attacked by a large and very strong male who landed on top of us and started trying to shove us out of our spot. We fought back and in mere moments Star security was there and removed him. I want to thank the Star staff and security for being so fast to come to our aid. It didn't have time to ruin the experience for us or the others around us. Thank you!
